I think this was a miniature compression tester. The blue box is a force gauge. Fold up a piece of paper and put it on the frame in the middle. Then track force required for deformation and failure on a computer attached to the blue gauge. Show this to a group of visiting Tech-Prep students and some will be hooked, I would guess.
